In latest Uttarakhand news, acting on the Nainital High Court order, the forest department is now gearing up to launch anti-encroachment drive in the reserved forest areas in the Terai region of Nainital district. This aside, the unauthorised structures that have come up along the highway and near the VIP gate in Lalkuan town would be razed down. The forest department officials said that the hotels, makeshift eateries and shacks that have come up on the encroached forest land would be removed too, adding that they are now inspecting the structures marked as encroachment on forest land and the drive would start in a week.
