The Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt said that it is laughable when leaders of parties opposed to Sanatan Dharma and Ram, like the Congress opine on religious rituals. He said this in response to statements made by the Congress State in-charge and other party leaders regarding the Pran Pratishtha ceremony at the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Talking to media persons on Wednesday, Bhatt said that the Congress State in-charge Kumari Selja had recently visited Dehradun to explain the guidelines set by the party high command for opposing the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha to the State’s leaders. “The people of Uttarakhand are seeing how the Congress which had opposed the Ram Mandir at the governmental and judicial levels, which had stated in court that Lord Ram is an imaginary figure, is still using varied means to oppose Sanatan Dharma. One can understand the motive when the son of that party’s national president considers Sanatan traditions a disease. It is unfortunate that today such a party is today giving a discourse on Pran Pratishtha and religious rituals. They are expressing sadness by spreading lies about the Shankaracharyas not attending the ceremony. The Shankaracharyas have made it clear that there are certain traditions, procedures and systemic practices which they have to necessarily observe. It is not possible to observe these due to the crowd and procedure related to security at the Pran Pratishtha ceremony. They are eager to pay obeisance to Lord Ram after this ceremony,” Bhatt said.
He also accused the Congress leaders in Uttarakhand of spreading spreading confusion regarding the consecrated Akshat (rice grains) either due to their lack of knowledge or due to ulterior motives. “Having maintained a distance from Sanatan traditions for a long time, the Congress leaders are unaware that distributing consecrated Akshat is a religious practices for invitation to an auspicious work. The Congress leaders should understand that this is not a Prasad but an invitation by the temple trust to 10 crore families to visit the temple. After the Pran Pratishtha, efforts will be undertaken to provide the Prasad from the Ram Mandir to a minimum 62 crore people,” the BJP State president added.
