The four-day foundation day celebration of Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES) started with blood donation with 44 people associated with ARIES having donated blood on the first day. ARIES sources said that Padma Shri recipient ophthalmologist Jeevan Singh Titiyal would be present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony slated on March 22.
The ARIES director Manish Naja said that the blood donation had been held at Soban Singh Jeena Base Hospital, Haldwani, adding that ARIES had been fulfilling its social responsibility since its establishment 76 years ago.
ARIES has earned fame in the country and abroad by installing 3.6 meter optical telescope and 4 meter liquid mirror telescope. ARIES has also succeeded in establishing facilities like ST radar. These are drawing researchers from India and abroad.
ARIES’s outreach in-charge Virendra Yadav said that scientists and engineers of ARIES would present their research and technical works during the celebration.
