Army expedition treks to Fachu Kandi bugyal

The 14-member team of the ‘Dot on Target’ division of Sapta Shakti command of Indian Army successfully completed the challenging trek to Fachu Kandi bugyal  situated at an altitude of 8,936 feet in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. After the successful mission the trekking team was flagged in on Monday by Major General Amit Talwar, at Hisar Military Station.

Led by captain Shreet Mishra, the team comprised two officers, two junior commissioned officers (JCO) and ten other ranks (Ors).  The team traversed a total distance of 156 Kms, trekking through the inhospitable terrain of Himalayas and reached the summit on May 30.  The expedition was flagged off by General Officer Commanding, Dot on Target Division on May 18. 

“The aim of the expedition was to promote the spirit of physical fitness, adventure, conservation of nature, and eco-tourism awareness.  The Team conducted motivational lectures on how to join the Indian Army, for school students in the remote village of Mori.  They also felicitated ex-servicemen in the area for their service to the Nation and conducted a tree plantation drive.  A medical aid camp for locals of Mori was also organised,’’ said a communique of the Army.
