Army jawans reach Hemkund Sahib to remove snow

With portals of the revered Hemkund Sahib opening on May 25, the army personnel have launched the snow-removing drive along the stretch from Ghangaria to the shrine. They said they are now preparing the path for the upcoming pilgrimage by cutting the accumulated snow. At present, Hemkund Sahib is covered under a significant amount of snow with depths up to five feet. Besides, a 20- feet- high iceberg was formed at Atlakoti along the pilgrimage route and a large part of it is still intact.
The manager of the Gurudwara Seva Singh said that the army team has reached Hemkund Sahib to remove the snow accumulated around the Gurudwara.
