Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) minister Rekha Arya emphasised the need for increased participation of women in the field of engineering. She said this while addressing the 11th Maha Adhiveshan of the Uttarakhand Power Junior Engineers Organisation at Adhikari Manoranjan Sadan on Tuesday.

Arya said that the government has formed a committee to address the promotion of junior engineers, ensuring there are no technical discrepancies in their advancement. This committee is expected to submit its report within the designated timeframe, after which the government will proceed with promotions. She also committed to presenting the concerns of junior engineers to the Chief Minister, addressing demands related to pension and salary discrepancies and striving to resolve their issues promptly.

Further, Arya said that while women are increasingly entering the engineering field, their participation remains limited. She expressed optimism that women will soon achieve equal representation alongside men in engineering. Additionally, she praised the diligent efforts of engineers from the Electricity department during the 38th National Games, highlighting their crucial role in ensuring all arrangements were executed swiftly and effectively.
