Alleging large scale corruption in the Dehradun Smart City project, the leader of opposition (LoP) Yashpal Arya has demanded a judicial probe on the irregularities after registration of cases against the agencies and officers involved in the corruption.
He said that after spending Crores of rupees the Dehradun city has been converted into a city of ditches. “The roads of Dehradun city have been converted into ponds at the start of Monsoon. When the Rs 1461 crore project was launched it was portrayed as if Dehradun would become similar to Paris but the problems of people have increased now,’’ he said. The LoP said that in the last six years only 30 per cent works have been completed and the city is dug everywhere.
The quality of construction is very poor and it is a case of loot of public money, he said.
Arya added that it was claimed that the waste from the city would be used to generate electricity but the promise has remained unfulfilled and the city is replete with piles of garbage.
