The Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the State Assembly Yashpal Arya has demanded that the Horticulture minister Ganesh Joshi and Ranikhet MLA Pramod Nainwal should resign in wake of the Uttarakhand HC order of transferring the horticulture scam probe to the CBI. He said that the court in its orders has mentioned that Ranikhet MLA gave a certificate of planting fake saplings in the garden of his brother. He said that it shows not only the involvement of the then Horticulture director HS Baweja but also the MLA and BJP leaders. Arya said that it is clear that the State officials and the SIT have proved ineffective since this year the HC has handed over the investigation of three scams to the CBI. The LoP said that a tainted officer like Baweja was made the director of an important department like Horticulture in Uttarakhand only because he had expertise in committing scams. He said that the HC order for CBI investigation has exposed the reality of the “zero corruption model” of the State government. Every line of the decision shows that the BJP government of the State and its officials are deeply immersed in corruption, Arya said.
