Arya directs conversion of warehouses into high-tech storage halls to improve storage facilities

The Food and Civil Supplies minister Rekha Arya directed the officials to convert warehouses into high-tech storage halls and connect them with technology to improve storage facilities across the State. She stated this in a review meeting of the officials concerned of the department on Monday and emphasised on ration kits, smart storage and use of technology to improve storage facilities. She obtained information about the current state of storage warehouses and emphasized converting them into high-tech storage facilities and integrating them with modern technology.
She urged the department officials to maximise the use of technology in implementing the schemes related to the department. She also reviewed the payments for the financial year 2023-24 and instructed the officials to expedite the clearance of pending payments. Besides this, Arya also expressed satisfaction with the positive feedback on the Mukhya Mantri Namak Poshan Yojana. She said, “I am pleased to see that all beneficiaries are getting benefit from the scheme.” The meeting also included a review of the doorstep delivery scheme, where officials reported that 99 per cent coverage has been achieved in the plain areas of the States and efforts are rapidly progressing towards saturation in the mountainous areas. Arya also directed the officials to prepare a proposal for providing ration kits to beneficiaries of the priority household (PHH) ration cards, Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) ration cards and State’s food schemes. These kits will include essential items like salt, oil, tea and spices. The minister also asked the department to study similar schemes from other states for reference. She also inquired about the arrangements for paddy procurement for the year 2024-25 and asked the officials to make required arrangements on time.
