Arya directs DMs to find 100 acre land for new sports university

The Sports minister Rekha Arya said that the state government will soon provide sports scholarships to students aged above eight years. She also directed the district magistrates (DMs) to find 100 acres of land for the construction of a new sports university. Arya said this in a review meeting of the sports department on Wednesday in which she also directed the officials concerned to present a 100-days report card of the work done by the department. A proposal of constructing a new sports university in the state was also presented in the meeting. The sports minister reviewed the proposal and directed all DMs to search for about 100 acres of land for the construction of the new sports university in their respective districts. She also directed the officials concerned to work on opening a Girls Sports College in Udham Singh Nagar. She said that the government will provide scholarships to students aged above eight years old who are associated with sports to provide them assistance in their early years. She directed the officials to make a proposal for this scholarship programme and present it to her soon. Arya said that the department aims to increase participation of young students from across the state in sports with such initiatives that will help them to make their future in sports. She also directed the officials concerned to issue the mandate of the state’s new sports policy soon too.
