Arya honours winners of Aanchal race

Sports minister Rekha Arya honoured the winners of the Aanchal marathon race competitionhere on Saturday as part of the State’s 25th foundation day celebration. The event was organised by the Nainital Dugdh Utpadak Sahkari Sangh Limited. Pooja Bisht and Neeraj Negi secured first place in the girls’ and boys’ categories respectively while Megha Goswami and Tushar finished in second place. Anu Bhatt and Saurabh Rawat took third place.
Speaking on the occasion, Arya said that such activities teach fitness, perseverance and the importance of maintaining hope in every situation. She encouraged the youth to cultivate these qualities within themselves to contribute to the development of both the State and the country. Arya stated that for Uttarakhand to become a leading sports State in the nation, the youth must be dedicated and hardworking. She also said that the government is providing extensive support to athletes to help them achieve these ambitious goals. Athletes who win medals for the State are being offered out-of-turn job placements, and a provision has been made for a four per cent reservation in other government jobs for them, she added.
