Accompanied by the departmental officials, the State sports minister Rekha Arya conducted an on- the- ground inspection on 37 acres of land near Indira Gandhi International Sports Complex in Haldwani where a sports university will be built. She also took stock of the works involving the outdoor stadium.
Notably, there is 37 acres of land near the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex which is under the forest department. It is to be transferred to the State sports department. After the land transfer process is over, the sports university will be built on this land.
Arya said that all technicalities related to land transfer will be completed soon. With the establishment of the sports university, players of all kinds of sports coming under the international stadium will be benefited. She further said that works for setting up of badminton court, swimming pool and the courts of other sports will be completed soon in Indira Gandhi Sports Complex.
