The Sports minister Rekha Arya instructed the officials to expedite the process of transferring land for the establishment of the sports university in the State. She said this in a review meeting which was organised here on Friday. Chief secretary Radha Raturi and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
Addressing the officials, Arya emphasised the need to promptly address practical difficulties hindering the construction of the sports university. Additionally, she directed the district magistrates of Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar districts to explore alternative options for compensatory afforestation land for the acquisition. Further, Arya instructed them that if suitable land covering about 100 acres is available in Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital district, efforts should be made in that direction. She stressed that every possible measure should be taken to commence the construction of the sports university, ideally with a groundbreaking ceremony before the National Games.
In addition, she said that it is a cause of happiness for the State that the first sports university will be established within its boundaries, offering considerable advantages to the young citizens. The university’s establishment will facilitate a variety of sports activities. In the foreseeable future, it is anticipated that this university will serve as a significant milestone for the State’s youth, she added.
