Arya orders action against 193 persons for tampering with document to benefit from Nanda Gaura Yojana

The Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) minister Rekha Arya issued an order on Friday to register a case against parents of ineligible beneficiaries of Nanda Gaura Yojana in Haridwar district for alleged fraud to get the benefits. She also directed the department to take punitive action against the officials allegedly involved in carrying out the scam. 

Arya said that Haridwar district received a total of 1,328 applications for new born female children and 4,174 applications for those girls who have passed class XII under Nanda Gaura Yojana in the financial year 2022-23. During the verification process, the district administration found out that 70 out of 1,328  applicants and 123 out of 4,174 applicants have tampered with the income certificate, a necessary document required to be the beneficiary of the scheme. She said that though the chief development officer rejected these 193 applications, it is shameful how some people tried to snatch the rights of other girls.

She said that she recently received information about the scam through various mediums following which, she has ordered the officials concerned to register a case against the offenders under relevant sections. She directed the department to take punitive action against those officials found to be involved in such tampering of documents. She said that it is very important to send a clear message to the public that the State government is determined to take strict action against any person and government officer or employee involved in such frauds that snatch rights of other eligible candidates
