The leader of opposition (LoP) in the State Assembly Yashpal Arya has said that the decision of the State government to set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate charges against former director of Horticulture department HS Baweja is a cover up exercise. He said that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had accepted in the High Court that it is ready to investigate the corruption charges against Baweja. “When the CBI is ready to investigate the case, why is the government setting up the SIT in a hurry,’’ he asked. He said that it appears that the chief minister and the BJP government are afraid of the CBI and its investigation.
