Arya tells officials to add local games in 38th National Games

The Sports minister Rekha Arya has instructed officials to test and include local games in the 38th National Games, which will be organised in Uttarakhand this year. Arya stated that in addition to the 34 games already included in the National Games, officials have been directed to test local games like karate, yoga and speed climbing and to include them in the National Games. Further, following the chief minister’s instructions to ensure the organisation of the National Games in the mountainous region, boxing will be organised in Pithoragarh and water sports in the Tehri. The minister further said that she has also directed officials to complete the tender process of (Project Management Unit) PMU and other necessary works for the National Games on time. Additionally, she informed that the date for organising the National Games will be announced after the formation of (Games Technical Conduct Committee ) GTCC by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). She further emphasised the state government’s commitment to successfully organising the National Games, drawing a parallel to events like G-20 and the Investors Summit. Arya highlighted that considering the rainy season, the department has decided to organise special training camps for players participating in the National Games, replacing the traditional state-level games with these camps where players can benefit from the expertise of experienced trainers.
