Ascetic kills another ascetic in Badrinath Dham dharamshala over land dispute

In latest Uttarakhand news, an ascetic, staying in Kali Kamli dharamshala in Badrinath Dham, bludgeoned to death another ascetic in a fit of anger and then reached the police station, confessed to the crime and surrendered. On the basis of the complaint filed by the manager of the dharamshala, police arrested the accused. It is learnt from the police officers probing the case that dispute between the two ascetics over a piece of land was the motive behind the murder.
The police station in-charge Kailash Chandra Bhatt informed that an ascetic named Dattachetan who originally hails from Telangana reached the police station and confessed to having murdered his friend, an ascetic from Joshimath, named Mohan Krishnanand with a hammer. The ascetic further told police that the body was kept in his room. Police took the body in its custody and sent it for autopsy. Explaining the motive behind the murder, Dattachetan reportedly told police that Mohan Krishnanad and he had purchased two nali land in Gopeshwar to set up an ashram and when Mohan Krishnanad told about his plan to sell his share of the land, he got enraged and in a fit of rage, hit the other ascetic with a hammer repeatedly in his head, resulting in his death.
SP Chamoli Pramendra Dobhal said that the accused had been arrested and produced before the court.
