Ashok Kumar given warm farewell at Police Lines

In latest news from Dehradun, the State director general of police (DGP) Ashok Kumar has been given a warm farewell at Police Lines on his retirement. He served the State as the DGP for three years. In his farewell address, Kumar said emotionally that when he assumed the charge as DGP on November 30 in 2020 it was the time of grim challenges posed by the outbreak of the Covid pandemic. Stressing that police department is meant for the welfare of the people, he said that he had tried his best during his stint as DGP to remove walls separating police from the common people. While lauding the success of Ashok Kumar as DGP, the new DGP Abhinav Kumar called him the ‘Viswakarma’ of the State police force and said that he had significantly strengthened the infrastructure of the department. Notably, a day before superannuation, Ashok Kumar went to the holy city Haridwar and there he was felicitated by 34 organisations for his distinguished service in the police department for the past 34 years. He interacted with the people and attended Ganga Aarti. Besides, the Uttarakhand sector of CRPF felicitated him and he shared his experiences while working for CRPF with the jawans.
