Assam Rifles organises ex-servicemen rally in Doon

A rally of ex-servicemen was organised under the aegis of Assam Rifles headquarters in Dehradun on Saturday. More than 900 ex-servicemen including gallantry award winners and Veer Naris from different parts of the State participated in the rally.
Addressing the rally, the governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh said that all ex-servicemen are his extended family. He said that a soldier devotes his entire life for the safety and security of the country and added that it is our duty to take care of our ex-servicemen after retirement.
Singh said that the serving soldiers play a vital role in protecting the security and prosperity of the country. He praised the efforts of Assam Rifles and said that they are always ready for the welfare of their ex-servicemen and this rally is the result of that resolve.
The director general of Assam Rifles, Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera highlighted the various welfare schemes available for ex-servicemen, including the extension of ex-servicemen contributory health scheme and Ayushman Bharat to Assam Rifles veterans. He also emphasised on efforts to revive the Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen Association and said that a monthly felicitation ceremony has been initiated to honour retired pensioners.
The gallantry award winners and Veer Naris were felicitated by the Governor on the occasion.
