In latest news from Doon, the State Assembly on the second day of the ongoing Budget session paid tribute to the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who breathed his last on December 26 last year.
On the other hand, the independent MLA from Khanpur (Haridwar) Umesh Kumar raised questions on the tardy pace of the ration card preparation process, saying that the economically unprivileged people were suffering due to authorities’ apathy on this important matter. Citing figures, he said that 144 yellow cards and 44 antodaya cards have been issued in one year while the Food Security portal has remained non-functioning for a long time. This prompted the State Food and Civil Supplies minister Rekha Arya to state, citing figures too, that the questions asked by the MLA were not based on correct facts.
