Ending suspense over who would succeed Arvind Kejriwal as the Delhi chief minister with the latter-mired in litigation- set to quit, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) unanimously agreed that Atishi would be Delhi’s new CM. Arvind Kejriwal himself proposed her name as his successor at the meeting of the party’s legislators.
Notably, the 43-year-old, who holds as many as 14 portfolios, including finance, education and revenue, held the fort, articulating the party’s stance during the critical time when the Kejriwal was in jail. She is all set to become the third woman chief minister of Delhi after Congress’ Sheila Dikshit and BJP’s Sushma Swaraj.
With the question of successor settled, Kejriwal will meet Lt Governor V K Saxena at Raj Niwas at 4.30 pm to tender his resignation as CM
