Auli will be developed into a destination visited not only during the winters but throughout the year. Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj said this while chairing a meeting on the Auli master plan with senior officials of the Tourism department on Thursday.
Maharaj said that a skiing village will be developed in Auli and various activities related to adventure sports will be organised at Auli throughout the year. While skiing will be organised here during the winter, other activities like trekking, hiking and rock climbing will be facilitated during the rest of the year. Facilities will be developed for such adventure activities in Auli. The minister further said that a training slope will be built for children, apart from which facilities will be developed for all age-groups. He said that under the master plan for Auli, major infrastructural development works will be undertaken here to maximise the number of tourists reaching this destination.
It will be recalled that Auli in Chamoli district is a popular snow sports destination with its slopes being famous for skiing and other related activities during the winter. Skiing and other snow sports championships are also organised here. Tourism secretary Dilip Jawalkar and other officials of the department were also present in the meeting.
