Authorities find body of Nagaland teenager in Roorkee after a week

The authorities have recovered the body of a 17-year-old student from Nagaland who was swept away in the Gangnahar canal in Roorkee a week ago. The teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police were conducting a search operation to recover the body for the past seven days and finally found it on Saturday. According to the police, the boy was a class XI student named Anoka and belonged to Nagaland. He was presently living in his school hostel in Roorkee. The police said that he had reportedly gone to Deen Dayal Upadhyay bridge near the Ganganahar canal with school friends last week but slipped and fell into the canal as per his friends’ statement. The teams had commenced the search operation on the same day but could not find his body till Saturday this week. The officials said that the guardians of the deceased have been informed and the body will be handed over to them as soon as possible.
