Authorities rescue 14 boys in Doon

The joint teams of the Dehradun district administration and the police rescued 14 boys who were forced into begging, child labour and rag picking. The children were rescued from Balliwala Chowk and Ballupur area of Dehradun on Thursday.
The officials said that a campaign was conducted to provide protection, care and shelter to children who were being forced to indulge in activities like child labour, begging and rag picking. The district administration coordinated with various departments and organisations concerned and finally conducted the rescue campaign on Thursday.
The officials said that the officials have registered a case in the matter at the respective police stations. Besides this, the rescued boys were also sent for a thorough medical examination as per the protocols. Keeping their interest in mind along with protection and shelter, the children were sent to a shelter home in Dehradun as per the directions of the child welfare committee after the completion of the required procedures, added officials.
