Authorities seek support of political parties & businessmen in ensuring Covid appropriate behaviour

The Dehradun district magistrate R Rajesh Kumar and deputy inspector general/senior superintendent of police Janmejaya Khanduri met members of the political and business fraternities seeking their support in ensuring implementation of Covid appropriate behaviour in political activities and in the markets.

Meeting representatives of political parties, the DM said that Covid protocol should be observe in political activities to prevent the further spread of the virus. He requested that masks and sanitisers should be used compulsorily in political events along with special focus on maintaining social distancing. During campaigning, public awareness should also be raised on Covid appropriate behaviour. He said that those not wearing masks should not be allowed in political programmes, adding that this condition should be prominently displayed on publicity material. The DM also requested that political activities be held either in open space or through the virtual medium to minimise the risk of infection.

Later, in the meeting with representatives of the Vyapar Mandal, the DM sought their support for maintaining social distancing and wearing of masks inmarkets. Business establishments should not sell items to those not wearing masks, he said, adding that staff of such establishments and customers should mandatorily wear masks. Kumar also asked the business fraternity to ask people not wearing masks in the market to wear the same. Members of the business fraternity informed that they are making a team of their office bearers who will cooperate with the administration and police for implementing Covid appropriate behaviour in the markets. The DIG/SSP Janmejaya Khanduri said that announcements will also be made in the bazaars for maintaining social distancing and wearing masks.
