Authorities seize 5K tonnes of illegally mined material in Vikasnagar

In order to take effective measures to prevent illegal mining and transportation of illegally mined material across Dehradun district, a joint team of district administration, mining andrevenue departments confiscated over 5,000 metric tonnes of illegally mined material from two different companies in the Vikasnagar area on Wednesday. The teams also imposed a fine of about Rs seven lakh on these companies for undertaking illegal mining in the area. According to officials, the teams confiscated 2,068 metric tonnes of mined material of Kansal Brothers company in Vikasnagar tehsil and imposed a penalty of Rs 2.89 lakh for illegal mining. Similarly, the authorities also seized 2,992 tonnes of mined material which was kept by Uttarakhand Bharat E Private Limited in its plant without any permission of authorities concerned. The team also imposed a fine of Rs 4.18 lakh for the violations of rules. The officials said that the administration will continue to conduct such raids to prevent illegal mining and transportation of mining material across the district.
