An avalanche was reported in the Kedarnath area early on Sunday morning. The incident took place above the Chorabadi glacial lake at a distance from the Kedarnath temple. According to officials, no damage was reported to have been caused by the avalanche.
The Rudraprayag district officials stated that the avalanche occurred at about 5 AM on Sunday. Devotees near the Kedarnath temple could clearly witness the occurrence and many of them recorded it on their mobile phone cameras. The incident occurred on the mountain above the Chorabadi lake and is not reported to have caused any loss to life or property, officials said, while adding that such avalanches are not uncommon in the area. Such incidents tend to happen after there is a significant amount of snowfall.
