In an impressive award ceremony, the outstanding Gentlemen Cadets (GCs) excelling in various fields in their pre commissioning training was felicitated at Indian Military Academy (IMA) on Wednesday. In the ceremony, the GC who performed exceptionally well during the various activities of Passing Out Course (POC) of 150 Regular and 133 Technical Graduate Course (TGC) – spring term 22- were awarded. The commandant of IMA, Lieutenant General Harinder Singh distributed awards to the GCs. The commandant in his address mentioned that battlefield today has extended beyond the frontline, the operational spectrum has become complex, and the adversary does not follow rules. “Conflicts today are multi-dimensional with fusion of contact and non-contact warfare, networks, information, and cyber warfare waged by state as well as non-state actors. The future would require soldiers to not only have deep understanding of nature of modern warfare but also be adept and trained to operate in a climate of complex battle field environment,’’ he said.
The IMA commandant said that the military leaders have to rely on battle drills and quick-decision making to outsmart and outclass the enemy. Leadership therefore remains a key determinant of victory. The young warrior leaders must endear themselves to their soldiers and inspire them towards selfless and brave conduct.
The commandant commended all for having achieved such high standards despite the constraints and challenges due to the spread of COVID-19. The commandant wished the course all the success and glory ahead in the various arms and services allotted to them. A communiqué from the IMA said that the Commandant’s prize distribution and award ceremony is an important event which recognizes and encourages the GCs to achieve excellence at individual level and contribute constructively in team effort to infuse a sense of camaraderie amongst them.
In the ceremony, the Sangro Company was presented with the Admiral Sushil Kumar, Chief of Naval Staff trophy for standing overall first in professional competition.
