Awards ceremony held at Indian Military Academy

GCs of 148 regular and 131 Technical Graduate Course honoured.
An Awards ceremony of Spring Term- 21 was organised at Khetrapal auditorium of Indian Military Academy (IMA) on Wednesday in which best performing Gentlemen Cadets (GC) of 148 Regular and 131 Technical Graduate Course were felicitated.
The Commandant of IMA, Lieutenant General, Harinder Singh presented awards to the GCs excelling in various fields in their pre commissioning training.
In his address, the Commandant said that the country demands willing, unhesitating, unfaltering obedience and loyalty from each young officer. He further elaborated that leadership is composite of a number of qualities such as self-confidence, moral ascendancy, self-sacrifice, fairness, initiative, decision, dignity and courage.
Commandant said that it is important for an officer to maintain a competitive streak within the parameters of sportsmanship and fair play at all times. He mentioned that the urge to win and excel as a team should always be there. “In the profession of arms, it is always a collective and a team effort that is important and there are no runners up in war.’’ he said. Lt Gen Singh commended all for having achieved such high standards despite the constraints and challenges due to the spread of Covid-19.
In the ceremony, the Meiktilla Company was presented with the Admiral Sushil Kumar, Chief of Naval Staff trophy for standing overall first in Professional Competition. While for standing overall first in the inter-company championship, the Dograi Company was provided the Kumaon trophy. The Parachute regiment medal for GC adjudged best in endurance and physical toughness was awarded to Astik. The Sikh Regiment Silver medal for best sportsman of the Passing out Contingent (POC) was given to Mukesh Kumar. The Commandant’s banner was conferred upon Thimayya Battalion for standing overall first in inter-battalion championship.
