Film star Amitabh Bachchan’s 80th birthday was celebrated with enthusiasm at his alma mater Sherwood College here on Tuesday. A superstar like Amitabh Bachchan is born only once in a century, opined the school principal Amandeep Sandhu. A special prayer meet was held in the school in which the students and faculty prayed for the long life of the actor. A cake was also cut and shared on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Sandhu said that Bachchan had spent three years in this school. He was athletics champion and also good in boxing while in school. It was in this school that he got interested in acting and then later became a super star also bringing fame to the school. He passed his senior secondary examination in 1958. Fifty years later in 2008 when he visited the school, he attended every event with interest during the three-day annual festival of the school, said Sandhu.
