In the backdoor appointments made in the secretariat of Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha case, the Uttarakhand High Court has directed the State government to submit its reply within four weeks. While hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Dehradun resident Abhinav Thapar, a division bench of chief justice Vipin Sanghi and justice Rakesh Thapliyal issued a re- notice to the State government for submitting its reply in four weeks. The next hearing in the case would be on June 30. Notably, the HC had asked the State government and the Assembly secretariat to file their replies on the PIL in 8 weeks on November 30 last year.
“Though the Assembly secretariat has filed its reply, the State government has not cared to reply despite six months having passed since the High Court order on the matter,’’ said Thapar.
He further said that the demand embedded in the petition was to investigate all the appointments to the Assembly secretariat from 2000 to 2022 under a sitting judge of the High Court. “The backdoor appointments have cheated the unemployed, educated youths of the state. This is a serious case of nepotism and those involved in this scam must be exposed and punished,” he said, adding that he had been fighting to get justice for 10 lakh unemployed youths of the state.
