The portals of Badrinath Dham were ceremoniously closed to the public for the winter on Sunday night. This marks the closure of the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand. Thousands of devotees were present at Badrinath in Chamoli district during the closure of the Bhu Vaikunth Dham.
The ceremonial procedure for the closure of the Badrinath Dham had been underway for some days. On Sunday, the Rawal Amarnath Namboodari dressed up in a woman’s dress and installed Goddess Lakshmi in the Garbh Grah of the main shrine. Earlier, Uddhav and Kuber were also brought to the shrine.
The Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee chairman Ajendra Ajay said that more than 48 lakh people had undertaken the Char Dham Yatra this year. He said that the number of devotees was high despite the duration of the pilgrimage season being comparatively lesser than last year. Despite the cold weather, thousands of devotees were present in Badrinath during the closure of its portals for the public.
