Badrinath covered in 4-feet snow, light rain forecast in 5 districts today

Following snowfall experienced recently in Badrinath, the temple township is covered in a blanket of snow about four feet deep. Due to snowfall experienced continuously for three days, the entire temple township is covered in snow. The highway to Badrinath is also covered in a thick blanket of snow while blocks of snow are also present at some spots on the road. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has deployed mechanical excavators to clear the highway of the snow.
Meanwhile, the state meteorological centre has forecast very light to light rain/thundershower at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Friday. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the state today.
The provisional state capital Dehradun is forecast to experience mainly clear sky with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 25 degrees Celsius and eight degrees Celsius respectively on Friday. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Thursday were 24.8 degrees Celsius and 8.2 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 23.7 degrees Celsius and 4.6 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 13.8 degrees Celsius and 0.1 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 14.4 degrees Celsius and 3.4 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
