The local traders observed a bandh in Badrinath seeking clarification on the rehabilitation policy under the Badrinath master plan on Saturday. The members of the local business fraternity kept their shops closed in the post-afternoon period. The pilgrims and other visitors had to face considerable inconvenience due to the market remaining closed in Badrinath. Teerth Purohit Ashok Todariya said that preparations are being made to start a protest fast unto death and keeping the entire market closed for an indefinite period from August 14. He said that the Teerth Purohits and Pandas have been demanding for a long time that the policy for rehabilitation of those affected by the Badrinath master plan should be made clear. However, no action has been taken so far on this demand, he alleged.

It should be mentioned here that a movement has been continuing under the banner of Shri Badrinath Master Plan Sangharsh Samiti since July 13. The local market remained closed on Saturday as part of this ongoing protest.
