Badrinath remains closed for 10 hours due to eclipse

The portals of the Badrinath temple and various other associated temples were kept closed for devotees during the total lunar eclipse on Tuesday. The Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) media in-charge Harish Gaur informed that according to the astrological calculations, the lunar eclipse started in India at 5:32 PM and ended at 6:18 PM.
However, the portals of the shrines were closed at 8:15 AM due to the Sutak period. In Badrinath, the Abhishek, Darshan, Bal Bhog and prayers were offered before the temple was closed in the morning. The Badrinath and other temples were reopened at 6:25 PM and after ritual purification the Abhishek and other rituals were conducted, he added.
