The portals of the Badrinath shrine were ritually closed to the public for the winters at 6:45 PM on Saturday. This marks the end of this year’s Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand with the other three shrines of Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri being closed earlier.

After the regular prayers during the morning, the rituals for closure of Badrinath temple began at 4:30 PM. At 5:30 PM, Uddhav, Kuber and Garud were brought out of the sanctum sanctorum of the shrine while the Rawal Ishvari Prasad Namboodari dressed in a woman’s attire installed goddess Lakshmi alongside the lord in the sanctum sanctorum. The army band was playing tunes as the portals of the shrine were closed to the public. More than 4,000 devotees were present on the occasion.
