Badrinath temple to reopen on May 8

The portals of Badrinath shrine will be reopened for devotees on May 8 at 6:15 AM. The date for reopening of the shrine was arrived at by priests of the erstwhile royal family of Tehri in their palace at Narendranagar on the occasion of Vasant Panchami.
Priest Krishan Prasad Uniyal declared the date after perusing through the horoscope of erstwhile king of Tehri, Manujendra Shah and performing Vedic rituals and Ganesh Pooja at the palace on Saturday. The ceremony of extracting sesame oil for the Mahabhishek of lord Badrinath will begin on April 22 at Narendranagar. It is pertinent to mention here that Badrinath and other Char Dham shrines are closed to devotees during the winters and reopened in the summer.
The Badrinath Rawal, Isvari Prasad Namboodari, Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee chairman Ajendra Ajay, vice chairman Kishore Panwar and others were also present on the occasion.
