Traffic going towards Badrinath was diverted in the Joshimath area on Tuesday as a result of problems being faced due to potholes and gradient of the Narsinh Mandir bypass. Drivers were finding it difficult to drive up this bypass due to potholes and gradient which was resulting in traffic congestion. On Tuesday, the traffic going towards Badrinath was diverted through the main bazaar while the vehicles returning from Badrinath are being sent via the bypass. Vehicles getting stuck repeatedly while being driven up the bypass were causing jams on this important route. The local police station in-charge Vijay Bharati said that the traffic route has been diverted from Tuesday. According to Public Works Department official Anil Kumar, work on improving the condition of the bypass will be started on Wednesday so that the movement of vehicles is not affected in the future.
