Badrinath Yatra: Chamoli DM, SP board bus, conduct field inspection

With the Char Dham Yatra approaching, the Chamoli district magistrate, Gaurav Kumar and superintendent of police, Surjeet Singh Panwar on Tuesday boarded a bus and conducted a field inspection of the 160-km stretch of the highway from Kameda to Badrinath Dham. During this, they inspected arrangements for drinking water, toilets, registration, health, parking and street lights, among others. They instructed the officials of all the departments concerned to make all the arrangements fool-proof well before the start of the Yatra.
Notably, the pilgrimage to Badrinath Dham will begin on April 23.

During the inspection, the DM directed National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) officials to install floodlights at landslide-prone locations along the route, install signboards in advance and ensure all other safety measures. He also directed officials to expedite the disposal of debris on the highway.

While reviewing drinking water arrangements on the Yatra route, he ordered Jal Sansthan and Pey Jal officials to clean the hand pumps and water ATMs installed on the Yatra route and start all operations before the Yatra.

Moreover, he inspected the toilets built on the highway as well as at the Yatra halts. He directed the officials of the Municipal Corporation, Nagar Panchayat, District Panchayat and Sulabh International to expedite the work and complete the water and other necessary arrangements in all the toilets. The chief medical officer was instructed to improve arrangements in all the hospitals and stock important medicines before the Yatra begins and to ensure the deployment of doctors and other medical staff in all the hospitals and health centres.
