The Bageshwar district magistrate Vineet Kumar is planning to introduce motorcycle taxis in the district headquarters. Initially two motorcycle taxis are slated to be introduced after which more will be put into service depending on the demand. This new facility will be useful especially for those wanting to travel to various government offices including the court, Vikas Bhawan, ARTO and degree college. “The district offices are at a considerable distance from the city. People have to wait for long to get taxis to reach these offices.
This is an innovative experiment and the ARTO has been instructed to take action on it. Transport will be accessible and unemployed youth will also get employment.”The motorcycle taxi fare has not been finalised yet. yet. Assistant regional transport officer Nikhil Sharma said that motorcycle taxis can also be called to the door of the passenger. This scheme will prove to be a milestone in improving public transport and create new dimensions of employment at the local level. After getting success in the district headquarters, this system will be implemented in the Tehsils also. The application process for this has been completed.
