In latest Uttarakhand news, Rohit Danu from Bageshwar has been included in the national soccer team which will take part in the 19th Asian Games. Hailing from Baghar village, Danu started showing keen interest in football since his childhood. He learnt the nuances of football from Bageshwar’s coach Neeraj Pandey. He will now play as a member of the Indian team in the Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou in China from September 23 to October 8 under the captaincy of Sunil Chhetri. Danu’s flair as a footballer shone when he was 12 or 13. He played under-14 soccer team as a member of the State’s team. Given his splendid performance in the matches he played in, he was selected for the national under-17 soccer team in 2017 when he was 15. Rohit represented the country in the FIFA World Cup Under 17 in 2017. He was also a member of Indian Under-19 and Under-23 teams.
