Bagless Day to be observed at every school on last Saturday of every month

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun

In latest news from Doon, the State Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat announced that the last Saturday of every month would be observed as ‘bagless day’ in all government-run and private schools across the State. This move, he said, has been taken by the State government in line with the National Education Policy-2000. “This move aims at taking students out of the book learning process and motivating them into engaging in creative activities which will facilitate their all-round development,” he said while addressing a workshop organised in the auditorium of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).

He further said that a booklet prepared by SCERT on the objective behind the bagless day observance would be made available at each school, adding that the nodal officers would be appointed to monitor and evaluate the schools’ performance regarding this move at the block, district and State levels.
