Bagwal Fair begins with kalash yatra

In latest Uttarakhand news, the centuries-old Bagwal Fair has started in Devidhuta on a colourful note with the traditional kalash yatra taken out by girls and women from the railway station to the temple premises. The principal attraction of this hoary fair of Uttarakhand is the holi played with fruits and flower slated on August 31. The Sanghi puja was held on the first day of the fair in accordance with the long-running tradition.
While inaugurating the fair, the district panchayat president Jyoti Rai said that this fair epitomises the soul of Uttarakhand’s culture. He later inspected the stalls put up in the fair. The president of the Maa Varahi Devi Temple in Devidhura Mohan Singh Bisht said that the devotees coming to this festival are being provided all facilities. While religious rituals are being performed in the festival in tune with the tradition, Chholiya dance was presented by a team that came from Pithoragarh.
