Balutia among the contenders for Cong ticket from Haldwani

The Kumaon media in-charge of the Congress and Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman Deepak Balutia is also being seen as one of the contenders for the party ticket from Haldwani in the coming Assembly elections. He entered politics in 1993 as a secretary of district Youth Congress from Nainital and served until 1995 in the position. Working consistently for the party made him rise in position while also eliciting the support from the people of Nainital. Since July 2021 he has been the media in-charge of Kumaon region and Uttarakhand PCC spokesman. Balutia organised and led various protests and marches in the state and led various agitations against the BJP government on issues of misrule specific to water and electricity at different times. He also undertook a three-day hunger strike against alleged irregularities in admissions at Dr Sushila Tiwari Medical College in Haldwani. He was also involved in the movement for ownership rights for about 7,000 families in the Jawahar Jyoti Damuadhunga area. He also supported 6,078 families in the slum area of Haldwani to protect their rights under the provision of the Uttarakhand Reforms, Regularization, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2018. Active during the Covid pandemic, he claims to have provided ration kits to more than 3,000 during the lockdown period. Apart from being a politician, Balutia is also an entrepreneur and owner of a mall in Haldwani and manages BEd Colleges and schools in Kathgodam and Haldwani.
