Bar Association members seek action against lawyers for attacking senior advocate

The members of Dehradun Bar Association approached the police to take action against those who beat up a senior advocate in the revenue court premises on Wednesday. The secretary of the Dehradun Bar Association Rajvir Singh Bisht said that senior lawyer Pradyuman Garg engaged in a heated argument related to a case. After this, Garg went to a nearby canteen for tea where a group of lawyers from Laksar, including the opposing party in the case, arrived and allegedly assaulted the lawyer. He also claimed that some bystanders informed him that the attackers were even contemplating kidnapping Garg, but other lawyers arrived at the scene, causing the attackers to flee. Bisht also informed that the Bar Association had filed a report with the Raipur police station and both sides are being given time to present their cases before any formal charges are made.A delegation from the Bar Association, led by senior lawyers, also met with Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh seeking action in the incident. The SSP said that the police have called both parties for questioning and settlement and will take further action based on the outcome of the meeting. Singh stated that an investigation is also underway and that appropriate actions will be taken based on the findings.
