Batra reviews PWD preparations for Kanwad Yatra

Cabinet minister Pradeep Batra reviewed the preparation of the Public Works Department (PWD) in Haridwar for the upcoming Kanwad Yatra on Monday.

 He directed the PWD officers to ensure that all their projects in Haridwar should be completed before the commencement of the Kanwad Yatra. Batra also directed them to expedite road repairs, drain repairs and sanitation works for the Yatra. 

He directed officials to expedite the construction of a drain on the road connecting the Pantdweep Parking at Har Ki Paudi. The minister also directed NHAI to expedite the completion of ongoing work on the Saharanpur-Roorkee-Haridwar expressway which connects the Delhi-Dehradun expressway to Haridwar.  He said that the objective of the government is to ensure the success of the Kanwad Yatra. 

Batra added that an estimated four to five crore devotees are expected to undertake the Kanwad Yatra and directed the officers to ensure that pilgrims do not face any difficulties. 

He said that the process of filling the potholes on the roads in Haridwar should be completed before the Yatra. 

Additional secretary PWD Mahavir Singh Chauhan, HOD RC Sharma, chief engineer Dayanand and other officers attended the meeting.
