The block development officer of Narayanbagarh in Chamoli district and three other block employees escaped with minor injuries after a boulder fell on the car they were travelling in on the Karnprayag-Gwaldam national highway on Monday. The car was severely damaged but the occupants sustained minor injuries and were taken to the health centre in Narayanbagarh for primary treatment. The block development officer Rakesh Mohan Nayal and three other employees of the block including Virendra Aswal, Ramesh Chandra Amoli and Chandramani Barmola were travelling from Karnprayag to Narayanbagarh. About three kilometres ahead of Nalgaon, a boulder fell on their car. The boulder did not hit the car directly from above due to which the occupants were able to escape with minor injuries. The incident caused a traffic jam on the highway for about half an hour. It should be mentioned here that after two days of rain in the district, clear skies on Monday resulted in boulders falling on the road to Narayanbagarh.
