At least four districts of the State are forecast to witness heavy to very heavy rain on Monday. The State Meteorological Centre has issued an orange warning for heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places in Dehradun, Bageshwar, Chamoli and Nainital districts today. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and very intense to extremely intense spells of rain are likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Bageshwar, Chamoli and Nainital districts. The authorities in the districts concerned have ordered closure of schools on Monday for the safety of students. The centre has also issued a yellow warning for heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in Tehri, Pauri, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Uttarkashi, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and intense to very intense spells of rain are likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts. Apart from this, light to moderate rain / thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in all districts of the State today.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly to generally cloudy sky. Few spells of light to moderate rain / thundershowers are likely to occur, one or two of which may be heavy to very heavy in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 29 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
Many parts of the State witnessed light to moderate rain since late on Saturday with 51 millimetres in Bazpur, 41.5 millimetres in Haridwar, 24.3 millimetres in Dehradun, 16 millimetres each in Maldevta and Ramnagar, 13 millimetres in Kashipur, 12.5 millimetres in Srinagar and 11.8 millimetres in Pantnagar.
