In latest news from Uttarakhand, a guard of the Pey Jal Nigam in Rudraprayag district was seriously injured as a bear attacked him when he was working on a water supply pipe amidst forest in the Bangaon area. To save his life, the villager identified as Prakash Singh (50) kept hitting the beast with the range he was holding. After a time, the bear fled. The villager called his near ones on his mobile phone. They rushed in and sent him to the district hospital. As the injuries he had sustained in his head were found serious he was referred to a higher centre. He was stated to be out of danger.
The villagers said they are scared and spend sleepless nights with the human-wild life conflict escalating leaving their life miserable.
