Below normal temperatures chill evening after warm day

Despite comparatively clear weather and sunny conditions, the maximum and minimum temperatures dropped by a few notches in Dehradun and other parts of the State on Tuesday. After comparatively warm conditions during the daytime, the drop in the temperatures intensified the cold after sunset. Some parts of the State are likely to witness rain and snowfall on Wednesday with the State meteorological centre forecasting the likelihood of very light to light rain/snowfall occuring at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts today. Snowfall is likely to occur at places situated at altitudes of 3,200 metres and above in the above-mentioned districts while dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 25 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius respectively. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded on Tuesday were 23.5 degrees Celsius and 7.9 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 23.7 degrees Celsius and 8.2 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 15 degrees Celsius and three degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 15.4 degrees Celsius and 2.7 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. The maximum temperature was two degrees below normal and the minimum was three degrees below normal in Dehradun while in Pantnagar the maximum temperature was three degrees below normal and the minimum was a degree below normal. Similarly, the maximum and minimum temperatures were a degree each below normal while the maximum was four degrees below normal and the minimum was five degrees below normal in New Tehri.
